TIME’s new cover makes me so mad I could write essays about it, but instead I’m going to keep job hunting since in today’s world a university degree means nothing and therefore like much of my generation, I’m stuck choosing between minimum wage jobs and internships that I can’t afford to accept in an attempt to pay off my tens of thousands of dollars worth of student debt.

I’d be interested in reading this article to see exactly what makes us entitled and lazy. Are we lazy because more of us are completing high school and going to college than ever before? Are we entitled because our standard of living is declining? Do we live with our parents because we’re too slothful to leave or is because our education costs are getting steeper and steeper while we’re getting less and less aid?

Tell us, Time Magazine, about how we’re narcissistic little slugs when we’re faced with an economic crisis that resulted in a lowering of our standard of living, an increase in tuition costs and how when we get out of our very expensive schools, more and more of us are going to end up working minimum wage jobs.

I also want to note that it’s really frustrating that the face of “lazy, entitled narcissism” is a young woman.

I currently live with my parents.

My parents had to pretty much had to beg and plead form me to move back in with them, after I had a particularly bad PTSD episode. The only person who was able to get through to me was my boyfriend at the time. Trust me, living at home and being unemployed for 6 months is not a fucking gravy train. I am doing this in order to get mental health treatment. And living at home means that I’ll have an easier time saving money so that I can move on with my life. People my age don’t look at moving back home and think “Oh sweet! Free laundry and a fridge to raid”, for most of us, it wasn’t’ even our 3rd choice.

I totally forgot about this. And seeing as I’m on a tumblr rampage this week, I might as well post it now.

So last month I did some art for the launch of the new tomb raider game. I wrote a blog post about it here. Anyway, as is the case with these sorts of projects, how it goes is you submit a bunch of sketches and then work one of them up to finished art. Due to a slight miscommunication I ended up working the wrong piece up to a finished state. Luckily, I was ahead of schedule so I finished the correct sketch straight afterwards, but that long-winded explanation is why i have TWO pieces of Lara Croft illustration in my folio.

I was really happy with this one too, so here it is, along with the sketch and a third sketch that I really didn’t have time to do. Enjoy!

Finally updated Pocahontas! I don’t think this is what people were expecting as the next entry in the series, but some of the criticisms of my first design have been eating away at me for years now and I needed to get off my ass and address them.

So hey! Spunky age-appropriate Pocahontas/Matoaka, sans feathers in the hair/European imagery/other superfluous details. This is closer to accounts and illustrations of Powhatan dress from the period, and I kinda think it’s closer to the Disney design anyway. WIN/WIN.

Thanks to everyone who’s educated my ass over the past couple of years, including moniquill, apihtawikosisan, this-is-not-native, and numerous others. You’ve made me a way more thoughtful artist in the process. :)
